Research project

How is national identity created, sustained, and transformed in the condition of global mobility? How does the presence of immigrants change the identity of the local population? How does the local population change the identity of immigrants?

These are the questions that “Transnational Mobility and Locality.Highly skilled immigrants in local communities of Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone research aims to answer. 

Who are we?

The project is conducted by the Sociology Institute of Warsaw University of Social Sciences and Humanites (SWPS), Faculty in Wrocław. The Team is led by Dr hab. Krzysztof Jaskułowski (Professor of SWPS) who received the Opus grant from The National Science Centre for this project. Team members combine their expertise within the fields of sociology, ethnology, anthropology and human geography. The project commenced in July 2014 and will end in July 2017.

News

The project has reached the field work stage. The interviews with high skilled migrants employed by companies within the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone are conducted. If you are high skilled migrant employed by company in WSSE in Wrocław, Wałbrzych, Opole, Świdnica, Żarów, Jelcz –Laskowice or Strzelin or if you are partner or family member of such migrant and you would like to participate in our study, please, do not hesitate to contact us.
